China Debut, Global Flagship
With a total investment exceeding 10 billion yuan
the world's largest LEGO-themed park by scale
Shanghai LEGOLAND® Resort officially open
expected to attract 3 to 5 million visitors annually
promoting Shanghai’s theme park layout of "Disney in the east, LEGO in the west."
Eight themed zones, over 75 interactive rides, performances, and attractions, as well as thousands of LEGO models built from more than 85 million LEGO bricks... ERA played a significant role, contributing HDPE water pressure pipes, PE conduits, and PVC-U drainage pipes to support the construction of the resort.
1.Precision Solutions: Tackling the Resort’s Stormwater Challenge
Shanghai is one of the cities in China with the highest frequency of heavy rainfall, with an average annual precipitation of 1,127–1,191 mm. As Shanghai’s first international family-themed resort, the rational design of the stormwater drainage system is crucial to prevent flooding.
To address this, Shanghai LEGOLAND® Resort adopted a forced drainage mode, achieving a discharge capacity of approximately 10.5 m³/s through the upgraded Nanfeng Highway stormwater pumping station. This discharge rate is equivalent to 350pcs of high-pressure water faucets operating at full capacity simultaneously.
The pipes must drain off the strong water impact and high flow velocities. If the pipe material lacks impact resistance, it may crack; if the internal water resistance is too high, drainage efficiency may drop. Long-term use with corrosion-prone materials could lead to costly rework.
ERA PVC-U drainage pipes boast an elongation at break of over 80%, offering excellent impact resistance. Their smooth inner walls minimize scaling and water resistance, while their inert material properties resist corrosion for over 50 years, tripling the lifespan of traditional steel pipes. These features make them ideal for forced drainage, ensuring Shanghai LEGOLAND® Resort can handle extreme storms and maintain safe, stable, long-term drainage operations.
2.Perfect Fit: A Solid Backbone for Resort Construction
Enhancing visitor experience is the core goal of Shanghai LEGOLAND® Resort, hinging on the completion of internal landscaping and surrounding commercial streets. However, the massive scale, numerous scattered structures, and adverse geological conditions like high groundwater levels and saline, humid soil posed significant challenges, creating tight schedules and heavy workloads.
Amid these high-stakes challenges, ERA’s products and services were put to the test. As an ERA business leader noted: "Contractors’ supply requests in the afternoon were delivered by Gongyuan’s team the next morning, ensuring efficient service to keep the project on track."
ERA's PE conduits and HDPE water pressure pipes, proven in past projects, played a pivotal role.
On one hand, ERA’s lightweight material simplified construction, transport, and storage. The excellent resistance to chemical corrosion provided a natural advantage in coastal areas with high groundwater and humidity, perfectly meeting the stringent demands of tight deadlines and laying the foundation for on-time, high-quality delivery.
On the other hand, these pipes excel in adapting to uneven ground settlement and misalignment, effectively solving construction challenges posed by scattered structures.
Specifically: ERA PE conduits use heat-fused joints, offering high tensile strength and single stretches exceeding 150 meters. era HDPE water pressure pipes feature an elongation at break of over 350%, can withstand drag forces up to 114 kN, and exhibit outstanding shear strength and scratch resistance.
3.ERA Strength, Supporting China’s Tourism Powerhouse Vision
Theme park projects have long been seen as catalysts for boosting tourism consumption and stimulating local economies. Large or mega projects with brand influence deliver visible impacts on their host cities.
At Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park, ERA HDPE double-wall corrugated pipes and high-performance plastic inspection chambers were integral to underground water supply, drainage, stormwater and sewage collection, and artificial seawater systems, ensuring stable, long-term operation.
From Shanghai Disneyland and Huzhou Longemont Resort to Yuzu Dream World, Fantawild Oriental Heritage, Zhuhai Chimelong Ocean Park, and Suzhou Amusement Land, ERA has empowered cultural tourism upgrades with high-standard products and premium services, creating exceptional economic and social value.
In the future, ERA will continue driving innovation, supporting more national strategic projects, transforming technical excellence into tangible improvements in life, and contributing to China’s vision of becoming a tourism powerhouse.
