On October 30, the T3 terminal and the fifth runway of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport officially commenced operations, marking the airport's entry into a new era of "five runways and three terminals." It has become the first civil aviation airport in China with five commercial runways and the world's largest single-terminal airport. This super airport, bearing the pivotal mission of serving the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, has been upgraded once again, powerfully opening a new gateway connecting the Bay Area to the world.

According to the master plan, by 2045, Baiyun Airport will meet the ultimate demand of handling 140 million passengers and 6 million tons of cargo and mail annually, making it the largest renovation and expansion project in the history of Chinese civil aviation airport construction.

The newly built T3 terminal, a key project under China's 14th Five-Year Plan, is not just a terminal but a massive integrated transport hub combining aviation, high-speed rail, intercity railways, and subways.

It is the first airport in China to achieve seamless integration of "two high-speed rail lines and two intercity railways," with a total construction area of 683,300 square meters. Features such as the "nation's first panoramic aviation viewing platform and lookout tower" and the "first airport in China to establish a large-scale public art system" highlight its unique design and craftsmanship, setting multiple national "firsts" and creating a new paradigm for Chinese airport terminals.

As this "Wings of the Greater Bay Area" soars into the sky under global attention, ERA Piping leverages its exceptional quality and professional expertise to build a concealed yet robust "vascular system" for this world-class aviation hub.

Invisible Backbone: Building a Resilient Pipeline Network Lifeline

As a vital component of the super airport, the efficient operation of the main terminal and peripheral facilities relies on a dependable piping system. Faced with immense load-bearing requirements, extremely high safety standards, and ultra-long service life demands, ERA's piping systems provide a critical solution.

01 Complex Soil and Variable Climate: Can Communication Pipelines Hold Steady?

PE Solid-Wall Communication PipesIn addition to the precise construction of the main terminal and internal functional systems, the stability and efficiency of the communication network are equally crucial. ERA's high-performance PE solid-wall communication pipes excel in flexibility, impact resistance, and low-temperature tolerance, making them suitable for scenarios demanding high environmental adaptability and long-term stability.

The airport's complex soil structure requires robust solutions. ERA's PE solid-wall pipes are flexible and impact-resistant, with an elongation at break exceeding 350%. This indicates exceptional toughness, as their ability to stretch without breaking far surpasses that of ordinary pipes. They absorb and disperse external impacts through deformation, preventing pipeline damage and significantly enhancing adaptability, resistance to destruction, and overall safety.

Guangzhou's humid, rainy climate, combined with seasonal typhoons and UV exposure, can cause ordinary pipes to age, crack, or suffer chemical erosion. ERA's PE solid-wall pipes can be safely used within a temperature range of -20°C to 40°C, are chemically stable, and suitable for long-term use. Additionally, through heat fusion or electrofusion connections, they form a fully sealed system, ensuring the safety of the lines inside the pipes.

Moreover, the inner wall of ERA's PE solid-wall communication pipes is smooth and burr-free, with an absolute roughness ratio only 1/20 that of steel. This significantly reduces friction resistance for optical and electrical cables during threading, providing ample convenience for future system expansion and maintenance.

02 High-Pressure Water Supply: How Does ERA Pipe Cope?

In the airport apron expansion project, the underground pipeline network for airfield engineering must withstand high water pressure impacts from systems such as fire water supply and pressure sewage drainage, while also coping with complex load changes and long-term corrosion induced by aircraft take-offs and landings.

ERA's steel wire mesh reinforced polyethylene composite pipes are formed by combining a high-strength steel wire mesh skeleton with high-density polyethylene, offering both the flexibility of plastic pipes and the high strength of metal mesh. This balance of rigidity and flexibility enables them to withstand high water pressure impacts, perfectly meeting the high-frequency and high-standard operational demands of the airport. The pipes' anti-creep properties and impact resistance effectively suppress deformation under stress, enhancing stability under complex loads and minor foundation settlement conditions, ensuring the long-term safe operation of airfield engineering.
